A foster home is a short-term safe haven for a rescued dog or cat. Foster homes are a critical component of our organization, allowing pets to be pulled directly from Rutherford County Animal Control Services in partnership with our approved rescue organizations. Being a foster parent entails taking a homeless pet into your home for a period of two to five weeks (in most cases), and providing him/her with food, water, appropriate exercise, socialization, and love.

The Community Pet Center (CPC) oversees fosters for rescues that pull from the shelter. All food and veterinary care will be provided. Please, help us help them. After submitting an application, and all references have been verified you will be called to schedule a home visit.

If interested in fostering for our organization, please download the application and submit it via email to or mail the application to Community Pet Center, P.O. Box 623, Rutherfordton, NC 28139
